My UTI (bladder infection) symptoms aren't seeming to go away. Any advice?

I went to a walk in clinic on Monday and was prescribed Macrobid for a bladder infection. I took one that night and have been taking them twice daily since (as prescribed). It's now Friday and I have taken 8 pills in total.

Problem is, I still have a constant urge to urinate! Seems, like immediately after I have to go again. I have been drinking TONS of water and natural cleartract powder and staying away from coffee, soda and junk food. No pain really, just getting tired of having to go to the bathroom every half hour!

Shouldn't my symptoms have started to clear up? Or does Macrobid usually take the whole week to start working? What's the longest you've experienced symptoms while being treated? My prescription runs out Monday and I have an appointment with my family doctor then so if it's not cleared up I'll ask her but any advice for the meantime is appreciated. Thanks!

Sometimes a specific antibiotic is needed to kill the bacteria causing your UTI. If symptoms like pain and a frequent need to pee but hardly any comes out, then you need to go back to your doctor and ask for a different antibiotic. If the pain is gone however, your meds are probably working. I was once given Septra for a UTI and it did not help – the doc gave me a new antibiotic and certainly it did the job. Good luck
