I am wondering because I know that I have a bladder infection right now and I dont have insurance so I am going to have to go to the hospital for treatment. I have had this infection for about a month I think so how long would it take the bacteria from the bladder infection to travel to the kidneys? Please let me know. Thanks
Depending on the rate of growth of the bacteria, it can be from 2 days to 2 weeks. Generally if a UTI is not treated promptly, bacteria may then go up the ureters to infect the kidneys (pyelonephritis) Persistent moderate to severe low back back pain, usually w/ fever, are classic symptoms. There are urgent cares out there that offer cash discounts to patients w/out insurance. Nevertheless, you need to get treated before, permanent damage is done to your kidneys, or the infection travels into the blood stream and your are then what is called "septic."
