What are symptoms of bladder infection?

Need help please.

this was done by sheryl not james
The first symptom that my wife had was stinging when she urinated. After the stinging stopped, her urine did almost. She just dripped. The pain was so bad that she finally cried endlessly before she got an appointment with her doctor. The quick solution while you are waiting on your doctor’s appointment is Azo Standard. Give it about an hour to work. Wear super absorbency disposable briefs while you are dripping urine and giving the Azo Standard time to work. Drink cranberry juice is what my urologist told me to do. He also put me on 3 antibiotics. They do not know why the Azo Standard works so well, but it is just absolutely great and is over the counter. I am not giving you advice in substitution for your doctor’s advice. Always check with your doctor. By the way, the super absorbency disposable underwear gets you from sitting on the toilet for hours while you just drip, drip, drip urine. I hope that this helps. I have lived with it for years………..

Same symptoms as a bladder infection?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

I keep having the same symptoms as a bladder infection but I have been tested for both a bladder infection & STD's & they are both negative. What is going on with my bladder?? Is something more serious going on?? Any suggestions?

Dude – guys typically don't get urinary tract infections. It does happen but not frequently. I'm guessing you have burning urination? Drink more water. You say you have been tested for STD's and they are negative. How long have the symptoms been going on?

If you still have the burning after hydrating you need to go back to your doctor.

Best of luck

Bladder infection, symptoms of one ?

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

For the pass couple days i've been feeling live i've had a bladder infection, the burning sensation comes once a day for a period of 1 hour of less, during that time i can go to the bathroom 2 to 3 times and yea.. nothing really happens. I drink a lot of water and it goes away. I was just wondering if i might go away or if it will comeback until i go see a doctor.

I'm visiting family in the states (im from Canada) and i dont want to spend 200$ for a bladder infection :/

Sounds like you might have some kind of funk going on. If you let it go it could spread into our kidneys which is super painful and can be dangerous. Your best bet would be to eat the $200 and see a doctor. If you absolutely can't then you can try an over the counter med called Cystex. It will help to detain it for awhile and also will help with the pain. Don't look at it as a cure though, as soon as you return home please do see your doctor.

My UTI (bladder infection) symptoms aren't seeming to go away. Any advice?

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

I went to a walk in clinic on Monday and was prescribed Macrobid for a bladder infection. I took one that night and have been taking them twice daily since (as prescribed). It's now Friday and I have taken 8 pills in total.

Problem is, I still have a constant urge to urinate! Seems, like immediately after I have to go again. I have been drinking TONS of water and natural cranberry juice and staying away from coffee, soda and junk food. No pain really, just getting tired of having to go to the bathroom every half hour!

Shouldn't my symptoms have started to clear up? Or does Macrobid usually take the whole week to start working? What's the longest you've experienced symptoms while being treated? My prescription runs out Monday and I have an appointment with my family doctor then so if it's not cleared up I'll ask her but any advice for the meantime is appreciated. Thanks!

Sometimes a specific antibiotic is needed to kill the bacteria causing your UTI. If symptoms like pain and a frequent need to pee but hardly any comes out, then you need to go back to your doctor and ask for a different antibiotic. If the pain is gone however, your meds are probably working. I was once given Septra for a UTI and it did not help – the doc gave me a new antibiotic and certainly it did the job. Good luck

Diabetes- bladder infection symptoms…could the body be shutting down?

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

My dad is having a lot of trouble. I don't know much about my dad's condition, mostly because he doesn't want to upset me, and my mother feels like I need to know, so she told me what she knows. He is very stubborn by the way.

This is what she wrote me with..what could it mean?

He had a bladder infection for the last month and it just wouldn't go away. It turns out that it wasn't a bladder infection after all. The doctor ran all kinds of tests on him and it is due to diabetes. She's afraid that his pancreas, kidneys and liver are shutting down. I don't know exactly what that means, but it doesn't sound good at all. He has really been sick for about 6 months now. The doctor will have more results in a week or so.

Any opinions are appreciated.
My dad is 45. He has had diabetes for a few years…over 5. He doesn't take very good care of himself. Still smokes and is overweight so maybe this will get his butt in gear and he'll start in.

The fact that you dad is diabetic shows that his pancrease IS in the process of shutting down. That is kinda the defintion of diabetes.

Diabetica often get urinary tract infenctions, and one of the first organs damage by diabetes is the kidneys. Most diabetic patients die of kidney failure — if a heart attack or stroke doesn't get them first.

You dad probably also has high blood pressure. Every drop of blood in your body passes through your kidneys! When they get damaged, they get filled with tiny little scars, thus blocking the flow of blood, and thus raising the blood pressure.

The front-line answer to kidney diseass is dialysis — being hooked to a blood filter machine for 3-4 hours for 2-3 days a week. Because of the time committment this takes, most dialysis patient are declared disabled, and end up on Social Security.

A kidney transplant is usually not an option for an out-of-control diabetic. Until the diabetes (and smoking!!) is under control, the doctors won't recommend a kidney transplant.

In a diabetic, the liver is usually about the last to go.

The smoking doesn't play into the diabetes much, but it DOES make his arteries very "brittle". This makes it harder for them to expand with each beat of the heart — and so blood pressure goes up.

The key is being overweight. THAT is the cause of his diabetes. If he would drop even just a little for that weight, his condition would improve. if he could get his weight down to "normal" he might very well eliminate all the symptoms of diabetes.

You dad has been DIAGNOSED for about 5 years, but it is a sure bet that he has been diabetic for MUCH longer — probably 10-15 years. He just didn't go to the doctor because he was ignoring the symptoms. This is very common — this is why diabetes is known as a "silent killer".

I hope your dad gets the message — take care of himself NOW, or die young. You are right — thsi DOESN'T sound very good, and if your dad doesn't start to take care of himself, there is a good chance that he will not live to age 55.

Since there is diabetes in your family, YOU need to have yourself checked regularly for signs. ASK your doctor to do an A1C test (a simple blood test), and discuss the results with you. if your result are normal, then have the A1C test performed once a year, in order that the doctor might catch diabetes in YOU early, and begin treatment before your get ill.

Do I have a bladder infection?

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Here are the symptoms of a bladder infection.
1. A strong, persistent urge to urinate
2. A burning sensation when urinating
3. Passing frequent, small amounts of urine
4. Blood in the urine (hematuria) or cloudy, strong-smelling urine
5. Bacteria in the urine (bacteriuria

but I only have the symptoms of 1 and 3. could I be pregnant?

There are a list of symptoms that are tied to every type of infection or disease and no one person will have all of the symptoms listed for that infection or disease. You will need to go see your doctor in order to find out if you have a bladder infection. But you need to go get checked right away because if left untreated, assuming you do have a bladder infection, it could turn into a kidney infection. If you think you may be pregnant than you should have listed that you have missed your period or have sore breast. But as I said you can be pregnant or have a bladder infection but not have all of the symptoms listed. Just go see a doctor and tell him all of your issues and he will know which tests to run.
