Im 20 weeks along and never had this before and also wondering if pregnancy can cause this to happen more frequently in pregnant women

UTI's (urinary tract infections) are very common for pregnant women, especially if you've had them before, but they are also considered to be more serious while pregnant, because it can lead to a kidney infection.

The treatment I usually got was either Cipro or Macrobid, though once I stayed overnight in the hospital and had IV antibiotics, but I can't remember the name. They are usually these awful horse-sized pills, and you have to take them I think 3 times a day for a week.

I have had several of them, and I was treated four times during my pregnancy. I pretty much had the same symptoms each time:

frequent urination

a funny, kinda 'tickling from the inside' feeling as I went (not quite the burning sensation that most people feel)

feeling like I can't empty my bladder all the way

having to pee again 2 minutes after I last went

all of the sudden feeling like I have to go *now*

cloudy, bad smelling urine

Once, it progressed beyond there, and my symptoms that time also included severe back and side pain, nausea, and a very, very slight fever. That was the time I had the IV.

Like I said, it is a very common thing for a pregnant woman to experience, but you should tell your doctor very soon, if not tomorrow, that you think you have one, because it could turn into a kidney infection. They'll have you come in and pee in a cup, and the nurse will use one of those little test-strip thingys, and they'll tell you right away if you have one.

Good luck, and congratulations on the baby!

-I constantly have to pee, but if I try to, nothing or very little happens.

-It hurts (sort of like a burning sensation) when I do manage to go a little.

-I've gotten this about once a day per year for a couple of years, but now I've had it for about a week now.

This really sucks for me, so please answer this question seriously. Also, should I got to a doctor for it, or should I just try to ride it out like I have in the past?

yes. you need antibiotics… there is no other way to make it go away…you will feel relief pretty fast!

I use the RR normal, no signs of pain. I just have a slight pain on my lower left side and burt a lot.

Just because you have no signs or symptoms does not mean that an infection isn't there. If your doctor checked your urine, the results probably showed microscopic blood (can't be seen with the naked eye) and/or bacteria. If the infection isn't treated (although you have no symptoms now) it could get worse and cause you much more pain in the long run. The slight pain you are feeling in your lower left side is actually a symptom of a urinary tract infection and it could worsen. Symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting, frequent urination and pain with urination are also symptoms of an infection.

I have had symptoms of a Bladder infection for 2 days now, Severe pain when i urinate, pain in right side of my back, and lower abdomen pain, also a mild fever. Now when i wipe from urinating ( which is in tiny amounts) i have small blood clots, and the toilet paper is pink. I know for sure and have checked and it is not in any way menstrual. Why could or what could this be?

You absolutely need to go to the doctor asap to get antibiotics. It definitely sounds like a bladder infection, and if it goes untreated it could become very serious. Please make an appointment, and in the meantime, you can take some AZO for the pain and other symptoms. It can be bought at any local pharmacy.

What are symptoms of bladder infection?

Need help please.

this was done by sheryl not james
The first symptom that my wife had was stinging when she urinated. After the stinging stopped, her urine did almost. She just dripped. The pain was so bad that she finally cried endlessly before she got an appointment with her doctor. The quick solution while you are waiting on your doctor’s appointment is Azo Standard. Give it about an hour to work. Wear super absorbency disposable briefs while you are dripping urine and giving the Azo Standard time to work. Drink cleartract powder is what my urologist told me to do. He also put me on 3 antibiotics. They do not know why the Azo Standard works so well, but it is just absolutely great and is over the counter. I am not giving you advice in substitution for your doctor’s advice. Always check with your doctor. By the way, the super absorbency disposable underwear gets you from sitting on the toilet for hours while you just drip, drip, drip urine. I hope that this helps. I have lived with it for years………..

I keep having the same symptoms as a bladder infection but I have been tested for both a bladder infection & STD's & they are both negative. What is going on with my bladder?? Is something more serious going on?? Any suggestions?

Dude – guys typically don't get urinary tract infections. It does happen but not frequently. I'm guessing you have burning urination? Drink more water. You say you have been tested for STD's and they are negative. How long have the symptoms been going on?

If you still have the burning after hydrating you need to go back to your doctor.

Best of luck

For the pass couple days i've been feeling live i've had a bladder infection, the burning sensation comes once a day for a period of 1 hour of less, during that time i can go to the bathroom 2 to 3 times and yea.. nothing really happens. I drink a lot of water and it goes away. I was just wondering if i might go away or if it will comeback until i go see a doctor.

I'm visiting family in the states (im from Canada) and i dont want to spend 200$ for a bladder infection :/

Sounds like you might have some kind of funk going on. If you let it go it could spread into our kidneys which is super painful and can be dangerous. Your best bet would be to eat the $200 and see a doctor. If you absolutely can't then you can try an over the counter med called Cystex. It will help to detain it for awhile and also will help with the pain. Don't look at it as a cure though, as soon as you return home please do see your doctor.
